AN ARCHIVE OF love stories
2020 has had its share of highs and lows, but Christa and Mike did not let it get the best of their year to get married. After having to switch not only venues but the STATE in which to get married due to COVID restrictions, Christa and Mike celebrated with their family and closest friends in Pray, Montana at the stunning Sage Lodge. A few vendors traveled to the new venue to execute their big day while also filling in the blanks with local Montana vendors as well- even to the extent of driving the cake (That’s over 800 miles!)
Christa and Mike hosted their guest list of only 50 guests (originally 175) for a welcome party and wedding at the lodge. Stunning views of the mountain range and gorgeous sunsets were personally a highlight for me, but getting to watch Christa and Mike get married was the icing on the cake. They were incredibly gracious throughout the entire planning process and even more so when they realized they weren’t able to host the wedding they had initially dreamed of at the original venue. The ceremony took place outside overlooking Emigrant Peak. Blum created a semi-circle arch that gave the illusion as if the florals were growing from the ground, as not to compete with the stunning views. After the ceremony, guests tossed dried potpourri at the couple as they recessed out of the ceremony.
Cocktail hour took place on the lawn outside of the venue hall, where guests enjoyed cocktails, local beers, and wines all while playing lawn games such as cornhole and giant Jenga. For the reception, guests made their way inside the Yellowstone Room which had cathedral ceilings with open wood beams and sweeping views of Paradise Valley. The tables were elegantly set with beautiful floral of whites and greens on a combination of exposed long wooden tables and round tables covered with white linen and soft grey napkins. Each guest had a place card tied with a leather string. The cake, a three square tiered cake with plexiglass squares filled with floral in between- and a cascading orchid down the side of the cake, mimicking the bride’s bouquet. The night was incredible, to say the least. And if you ever find your way in Pray, Montana, I highly recommend staying there, or at least stopping by for dinner- they couldn’t have been better to work with! It was a night to remember and one for the books (especially in 2020!)
